What We Look At
We start at the base and work up. At the base we check the trunk for cavities, fungal growth, and bark that has lifted off the wood underneath. In the canopy we check how the limbs attach, looking for weak forks and unions that were never sound. Back on the ground we look at the root zone: heaved or compacted soil, a change in grade near the tree, and construction or drainage work that may have cut or buried roots.
Then we ask what happens if the weakest part lets go. A dead limb over a fence is one problem. A leaning trunk over the house is another. The same defect can call for very different action depending on what is underneath it.
What the Fix Can Look Like
The assessment ends in one of three outcomes: prune, support, or remove. Pruning is the simplest. If one overextended limb is the problem, we take that limb and leave the tree alone.
How the cut is made decides whether the tree recovers. We cut outside the branch bark ridge and the branch collar. A flush cut against the trunk damages stem tissue and invites decay. On a heavy limb we make an underside notch first, so the bark can't tear down the trunk as the limb falls. Then we cut through the limb farther out to take off its weight, and finally remove the stub just outside the collar.
If the problem is a weak union, cabling or bracing may be the answer, and we'll tell you if so. If the tree is past help, we tell you that too, and we point out the defects that led us there.

What It Costs
We quote the assessment and any follow-up work separately, so you can decide on the second after you've seen the first. If the follow-up involves pruning or removal, hauling trimmed branches and wood runs $75 to $250.
A crane is a separate cost. We bring one when the tree is hemmed in by structures or the pieces are too heavy to lower safely by rope. If a job needs one, it goes in the quote up front.
After the Assessment
You decide what happens next. If it's pruning, we do the cuts as described above and haul the debris. If it's removal, we go over how the take-down will run and what to clear from the area beforehand. If you want the stump gone afterward, our stump grinder handles that once the trunk is down.

How It Works
-
Tell Us What You Need
Tell us what you need done and when — you'll get a straight answer, not a sales pitch.
-
We Walk the Job
We come out, look at the space, and confirm exactly what the job involves.
-
Know the Price First
You get the scope and the price in writing before any work starts. No surprises.
-
The Job, Done Right
We do the job right the first time, clean up after ourselves, and stand behind the work.
Depending on what we find, that can mean:
- Grind the stump below ground level; grinding does not remove the underground roots.
- Survey the tree and worksite for structural hazards, overhead obstacles, slope, and weather risks before work begins.
What It Typically Costs
Ranges to budget around - every situation is priced on its own specifics.
